How To Enroll

1. Call CDS at 1-800-646-2374 to reserve your seat as soon as possible. Seats are available on a first come/first served basis.

2. Students must possess a valid VA, MD, or D.C. drivers license.

3. Obtain a Commercial Instructional Permit from the DMV by second week of class. The manuals are free at any DMV. Tests are free the first time and cost $2 to retest (in Virginia). The permit fee is about $3 in Virginia, $90 in Maryland, and $39 in Washington, D.C. Study the following:

• Sections 1 & 6 -General Knowledge
• Section 2 - Air Brakes
• Section 3 - Combination Vehicles
• Section 9 - Hazardous Materials (not required, but recommended)

We will provide practice tests to assist in studying and preparing for the written CDL Instructional Permit. The practice tests are to be used with the DMV CDL Manual.

4. A DOT physical is required. Most students use our physician for $60. A drug screen is also required and must be done through CDS for $60.

5. Financing is available to each applicant, even with weak credit. Balances not covered by the loan can be paid while attending school. Always check your own resources first to receive a cash discount! MasterCard and Visa accepted.

6. Lodging is available at a nearby motel, and rooms have a microwave and refrigerator. Students enjoy free breakfast each morning. Rates are $50 per night for single and $25 per night for double occupancy.

2 students sharing a double room Monday-Thursday nights for 4 weeks - $400 per person
1 student in a single room Monday-Thursday nights for 4 weeks - $800

Part-Time
2 students sharing a double room Saturday nights for 10 weekends - $250 per person
1 student in a single room Saturday nights for 10 weekends - $500
